What To Grow & How To Cook It by William Blackley

Part gardening book, part cookbook, What To Grow & How To Cook It was a rare publishing feat in the 1950s, combing two ideas that seemed quite radical at the time.
I particularly enjoy Blackley's writing and his turn of phrase. For example, while talking through how to boil parsnips, he prefaces it by saying: "Pardon me putting it so bluntly, but if your family or your guests don't like any of the following, there must be something wrong with them. So here goes."
Lovely little illustrations doted throughout by William Kermode
