Squirrels was first opened in 1983 by Diana Mitchell, a local Brisbanite, wanting to spread the word about vegetarianism. This accompanying cookbook, produced in 1988, was designed to "introduce the world of vegetarian delights" to those who have not visited Squirrels or visited regularly and wanted to reproduce their favourite dishes.
Recipes are wide ranging, from starters, mains, to desserts and beyond.
